Matt earned a soccer scholarship with the North Carolina State University Men’s Soccer Team (ranked #1 in the nation) while completing his Biological Engineering degree in 1995. After graduation, Matt began working for MA Engineering Consultants as a Design Engineer and assisted with the design of bridges, roadways, and drainage plans for several major highways in North Carolina. From 1995- 1997, Matt became the Assistant Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team and went back to school where he earned his Master of Science in Management degree. After graduation, Matt accepted a job with First Union/Wachovia Bank/Wells Fargo and worked in the Risk Management Department, Evergreen Mutual Fund Department, and Project Management Group. In 2000, Matt became a manager of the Competitive Analysis and Sales Support Groups in the Retail Investment Group. He was recognized with the Rising Star Award for 2001 because of his significant contributions.
In 2003, Matt accepted a position as the Wealth Management Product Manager with Union Planters Bank (now Regions Bank) in Memphis, TN. As the youngest member of the Financial Services Executive Committee, his responsibilities included managing the investment products, marketing, and sales promotions for the entire bank. Having enjoyed much success in these various roles, Matt still always had a dream to start his own company one day. So when an opportunity was presented, he decided to launch a real estate investment company in the Jacksonville, FL area called Sensible Home Solutions, LLC.
As a real estate investor for many years, Matt purchased homes throughout the area. Some properties were immediately fixed up and “rehabbed” while others were put into the portfolio and rented. During this time, Matt was able to refine the skills necessary to find great properties, negotiate the right deals, and develop an eye for renovating a property to appeal to the most selective of buyers. As this business continued to evolve, Matt began his work as a real estate agent and helping buyers and sellers with their real estate needs.
Never one to promote himself or his business, Matt operates strictly on referrals from other clients. He and his wife have been happily married for over 17 years and they have 3 active children that keep them very busy (Savannah age 13, Corban age 12, and Calli age 11)!
